Before you begin, make sure your shower walls are in their final state, whether they’re finished with tile or a tub surround.
1. Measure Opening Widths
Bottom, Center & Top Measurements
Use your tape measure to record the width at the bottom, center, and top of your shower opening—always measuring from the center of the curb.
Taking measurements at all three points helps identify any variations or out-of-square conditions in the opening, ensuring your custom shower door is manufactured for the best possible fit.
Use Exact Opening Sizes
Simply enter the raw measurements. We’ll handle all hardware deductions to ensure a perfect fit.
2. Ensure Surfaces Are Level & Plumb
Check for Level
Use an appropriate-size level to examine all walls and surfaces in the shower opening, making sure each one is straight and plumb.
Identify Any Variations
If you find any spot that is out of level by 3/4” or more, take note of the exact location and the amount of variation.
Plan for Necessary Adjustments
Depending on the severity, you may need a tapered filler, or we may need to adjust the glass design to compensate for the out-of-level surface.
3. Measure for Height
Mistakes happen, especially with custom sizing. We've got you covered on your first order.
Determine Starting Point
Begin by placing your tape measure at the top of the threshold (floor) or tub deck—this will be your base reference for height.Determine Starting Point
Measure Straight Up
Measure vertically to the height you want your shower door to reach, making sure the tape stays straight for an accurate reading.Measure Straight Up
Select Your Preferred Height
Record your measurement and choose the height that best fits your space. Common shower door heights are 72", 76", and 80", but custom heights are also acceptable.

Do Frameless Shower Doors Leak?
When installed correctly, frameless shower doors do not leak under normal use. While they don't have the bulky metal frames that catch water, they use discreet clear seals and proper drainage angles to keep water inside the enclosure. Think of them as water deflectors rather than water containers.
What should I do if my walls are out of plumb?
Just input the measurements for the top, middle, and bottom, and select which wall is out of plumb. Example: My opening width is 34 1/2" at the bottom and 34 7/8" at the top (72" high). The left wall leans out 3/8".
Can Royalty Mirror match a competitor’s price on identical items to ensure I receive the best value?
