The foggy window fix nobody tells you about
Your window isn't broken. Just the glass.
If your double-pane windows have gone foggy, cloudy, or cracked, you don't need to tear out the whole frame — or pay a contractor to. You can replace just the sealed glass yourself, and keep everything else.
That haze between the panes? It's a failed seal — not a failed window. Wipe above to see what's really on the other side.
Here's something most homeowners never hear: when moisture creeps in between the two panes of a double-pane window and leaves that permanent cloudy haze, the window itself is almost always fine. The frame is fine. The sash is fine. The locks, the hinges, the trim — all fine. The only part that has failed is the sealed glass unit tucked inside.
Double-pane windows work because two sheets of glass are bonded together with a spacer and a bead of sealant, trapping insulating gas or dry air between them. Over the years that seal can break down. Moisture sneaks in, condenses, and gets stuck. You end up looking at a foggy pane you can never wipe clean — because the fog is on the inside, where no cloth can reach.
So why does everyone quote you for a whole new window?
Because a full window replacement is a much bigger ticket. Rip-and-replace jobs mean tearing into the frame, disturbing your trim and siding, and paying for labor by the hour. It's the default a lot of companies reach for — even when the fix you actually need is far smaller.
That smaller fix is called an insulated glass unit, or IGU. It's the sealed double-pane "sandwich" that slots into the frame you already have. Swap in a fresh one and your window is clear, sealed, and insulating again — no new frame, no torn-up wall, no contractor markup.
You're being quoted to replace a frame you already own. Keep it — and just change the glass.
This is genuinely a do-it-yourself job
If you can measure a rectangle and use a putty knife, you can do this. You pop out the old glazing beads that hold the glass in place, lift out the failed unit, set the new one in, and press the beads back. Most homeowners finish a single window in well under an hour with tools already in the garage.
The one part people worry about is measuring — and that's exactly where we've taken the risk off your shoulders. We custom-cut every insulated glass unit to your numbers, ship it packed to survive the trip, and back it for the long haul. If you're a first-timer, keep reading, because the guarantees below were written with you in mind.

What if I measure wrong?
On your first order, we'll recut your glass free — a $200 value. We'd rather you order with confidence than lose a Saturday to a tape-measure slip. We'll also show you exactly how to measure before you commit.
Will the glass arrive broken?
Every insulated glass unit ships free and is crated and cushioned specifically for transit. In the rare event something arrives wrong, your 10-year warranty has you covered.
Is the installation really something I can do?
Yes. If you can remove a few glazing beads and set a pane level, you can do it. Most single windows take under an hour with basic tools.
Why is my window foggy in the first place?
The seal that bonds your two panes together has failed, letting moisture in between them. It can't be wiped away because it's sealed inside. A fresh insulated glass unit restores the clear, sealed, insulating pane you started with.
How long will the new glass last?
Each window is backed by a full 10-year warranty. If a seal fails within that window, we make it right.
Testimonials
I used this glass as a dining room table. The price could not be beat. Dimensions were accurate. It looks great!
Very nice! It was delivered faster than I expected, by a couple of days.- No flaws, cracks, or chips.
I was reluctant to have something fragile like this shipped. I was amazed that the glass arrived intact!
